NEW PLYMOUTH, February 6

The Taranaki J.O. meeting opened in fine weather, before a good attendance. The course was fast. The tote handled as compared with £21,851 last year. Results:—

Waitara Hurdles.—(B) Whenuanui 1, (2) Borsalene 2; (6) Airforce 3. Won by three lengths; one and a-half lengths. Time 2.57. Vinelia and Whisofne fell.

Ngamotu Juvenile Handicap.—(l) Acora 1; (2) Hard Words 2; (3) Blue Paper 3. Won by three-quarters of a length ; one length. Time 1.1 2-5.

Flying Handicap—-.( 1) Paganelli 1; (5) Silvermine 2; (4) Leitrim 3. Won by a head; a length and a-half. Time 1.13 1-5.

Moturoa Electric Hack.—(l) Perennis 1; (9) Lady Lucerne 2; (2) Royal Visitor 3. Won by a head; two lengths. Golden Flower, Cyrille, Miss Cobham and Coalbag fell. Voitre, rider of Cyrille, broke both his arms. Sandilands, rider of Miss Cobham, broke his collarbone. Time 1.5 2-5.

Taranaki Cup Handicap.—-(7) The Hawk 1; (4) Vertigern 2; (3) Yoma 3. Time 2.36 1-5. The Hawk won a fine

race by half a length, with a neck between second and third.

Okato Hack Handicap.—(7) Dolomite 1; (1) Grecian 2; (2) Joy Spear 3. Won by a head ; three lengths. Time 1.50 4-5 Mimi High weight.—(B) Red Ftischia 1; (3) The Swell 2 ; (2) Manly 3. Won by a head ; three-quarters of a length. Time 1.27 2-5.

Timaru Hack.—(3) Joy Germ 1; (2) Tehoia 2; (7) Tent Call 3. Won by two lengths; half a length. Time 1.14.

GISBORNE, February 6

Gisborne Racing Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in fine weather after recent heavy rains, a large attendance, and the going good. The totalisator took £9,905, against £ll,281 last year, a decrease of £1376.

Tehapara Hack.—(l) Dimmer 1; (9) Squadron 2; (8) Atapai 3. Won by a nose; a head. Time 1.16 1-5.

Flying Handicap.—(l) Plimmerton 1; (3) Plain Sailing 2; (2) Tea Lady 3. Won by half a length; two lengths. Time 1.15 1-5.

Maiden Scurry.— (4) Sunglare 1; (5) Climatic 2; (9) Little Wonder 3. Won by two lengths; one length. Time 1.3 2-5.

Carroll Memorial.—(3) Tall Timber 1 ; (2) Valsier 2; (1) Kinsel 3. Won by a piarfpf of a length ; half a length. Time 1.45.

frack Gold Cup (i) Te Awha 1; (2) Rich Harvest 2; (3) Outfit 3. Won'by one length; one and a-h,alf lengths. Time 1.43.

Hie Armidale Cup, nine furlongs, of a £IOOO. resulted .-—Potent (7.9) 1, Rube Paddington (7.6) 2, Casquedor (9.0) 3. Nineteen started. Won by half a length; three lengths. Time ,1.65.
