SHIP’S STEWARD FINED

.WELLINGTON, February 5,
The plea that they took The car tor a prank did not help two Tainui stewards, Shilliber and Harvey, to-day The Magistrate merely told them it was an expensive joke sometimes to the owners, and imposed lines of £o with the alternative 14 days’ imprisonment, both to be placed aboard if the lines were not paid when the ship sailed. The car, the property of a watersider, was taken from the wharves in view' of the constable who affected the arrest.
STOWAWAYS TO PAY
WELLINGTON, February o
Ronald Collins, 21, and James Share 36, w'ho were stowaways on the Ulima roa from Sydney were each fined £1 and ordered to pay the second class fare £6 10s, in default seven days’ imprisonment.
