WESTLAND PRESBYTERY

h alf-YFarDy Meeting . ... The half-yearly meeting of the Westland , Presbytery was held in St. John’s Schoolroom, Greyniouth, on A’iies-day. There were present: Revs. Hayward (Moderator), A. Miller (clerk) T. N. Cuttle, Sir \V. Foiley (elder) and Messrs,, Webb, Fotlieringbam, Humble, MeClyniont, Vickers and Rattry (Home Missionaries). v A resolution of condolence was passed witli Re.v. A. Milier (Westport) in ms. recent bereavement. Rev. A. ffiller was ejected Moderator for the ensuing year. , In connection with earthquake relief, the Clerk reported that upwards .of ,£-500 had lieen subscribed by Presbyterian churches throughout New Zealand, for a repair fund for churches within the, bounds of the Presbytery. It was decided, to have a letter of .thanks to donors published in the “Outlook.”

In reference to Rev. Mr Miller’s report on the successful Westport Jubilee services, it was decided to forward ,a jetter of thanks,to the Moderator of .the Prephyterian .Assenibly (Rev. Professor Hewitson) for his helpful visit to. the-West ,Const.

. The Presbytery .agreed to nominate Rev. J. Collie, of Queenstown, for, the Chair pf Greek. and New Testament Thqojogy,, renderd vacant by the death of Rev. Professor Davies. .Statistical returns for the year were submitted, and shqw.ed an increase in ever department of the Church’s work —ipereasp.d membership, finance, etc.

The Home Missionaries presented-, n yearly report. All mentioned the difficulties experienced, through the earthquake and. all. spoke hopefully of. the .futpre,.,. expressing gratitude to those who-had helped in {the church work.

, Rev.. A. 11.. Todd was nominated, as Moderator,.of the. General. Assembly for ,the ensuing year,, and, ..Revs. T.. N. Cytale ,and,, .J. W, Hayward were elected to, represent the Presbytery at the, Assembly.

A successful series of .meetings was brought .to a. dose by a Home Mission Demonstration at St. John’s Church on. Wednesday night when, interesting addresses were given by all missionaries, interspersed by hearty congregational singing.
