GOVERNMENT’S POLICY

MADRID, February 3
The spiritual peace and materiail tranquility of all Spaniards, by the complete welding of the past with the future without any abrupt changes, and the keeping of everything which the Dictatorship has left in its constructive policy, are the chief aims of the new Government, says Gener'al E'eienguer, in addressing the CaptainsGeneral. He believes that Spain has entered on a path leading quickly to a splendid renaissance. A rousing welcome was given to released artillery officers and men who were imprisoned a year ago for tkeir T revolt against General J)e Rivera. All variety of students have resumed a peaceful life, and the whole city is tranquil under General Berenguer’s programme of restoring full constitutional liberty.
