NELSON’S ACTION DISCONTINUED

% Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright

AUCKLAND, Feb. 5

Following the announcement that Hon. Cobbe is going to Samoa, Mr Fletcher. .M.P., telegraphed to the Premier .suggesting Sir A. Ngata should accompany Mr Cobbe. Without prejudice to the resumption at a later date, Mr O. F. Nelson has discontinued his suit against the New Zealand “Herald,” from whom ho claimed £IO,OOO sterling for alleged liocl. No reply has been received from the Administrator to Nelson’s request for the safe conduct of his witness. Consequently Mr Skelton told Justice Herdman this morning that he had no option but to discontinue the action. Mr Skelton added that there was a movement afoot which it was hoped would lead to an amicable settlement of the trouble in Samoa.
