THIEF CAUGHT
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Feb. 1. In the early hours Ibis morning, a man was captured on drapery premises at Bulls and was subsequently handed over to the police. At the Court, Palmerston North, David Daviies, 29, steward and- porter,:. >yas charged with breaking and entering the, shop of V. S. S. Edhouso at, Bulls, stealing clothing, boots, etc., •valued at £42. He was remanded to Thursday next. YOUTH DROWNED. CHRISTCHURCH, February 3. Norman Priest, aged 18, was drowned in the Waimakariri at Kimberley yesterday while -bathing with .companions.* He was unable to swim. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) NAVAL STOKER. FALLS OFF AUCKLAND FERRY. AUCKLAND, February 1. A sailor fell overboard from a feii> boat nearing Devonport 011 Friday evening. He was Sylvanus John Pengelly, leading stoker on H.AI.S. Laburnum. No trace of him has yC|t been found.
