[United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.]
NON lE, January 30
An examination of Eielson’s demolished plane explains the mystery of how such an expert flyer with half a million miles of Arctic flying behind him could have met with an accident in the element he so often conquered. His altimeter registered 1000 feet and stuck there. Eielson naturally believed himself to be flying at a sale altitude. Apparently be struck the side of a little snow hummock. Eskimos are still digging drifts trying to find the bodies of both men. They must have been killed instantly. It is possible that their remains were dragged away by bears and some time may elapse before they are found.
