SUDDEN DEATHS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) NELSON, Jan. 29. Air Charles H. Thomas, a well known resident, met his death yesterday afternoon in an unsual manner. He went to Brook Stream to throw in a tin of rubbish. As he did not return, a search was instituted. His body was found some distance down the stream. It is presumed the deceased was overcome by fainting on the river bank and fell info the water., CHRISTCHURCH, Jan., 29. The death occurred of Rev. William Train Todd, aged 07 years, a retired Presbyterian Minister. Air Todd col; lapsed on the footpath on Papanui road, while standing waiting for a tram, and died almost immediately. Air Todd had been in his usual health recently. He was born a.t Oamaru and was a son of the Rev A. B. Todd. He entered the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in 1907, retiring in 1928. DELEGATES FOR GENEVA. WELLINGTON, Jan. 29. Cabinet this week is expected to roach a. decision regarding the appointment of a delegation to represent Now Zealand at. the next International Labour Conference at Geneva which will be held in Alay or June next". AN EMPIRE CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, January 28. Exception was taken at to-night’s meeting of the Chaniber of Commerce of the desire to have the 1933 Empire conference in Auekand. BODY FOUND. ■MARTON, January 29. Advice was received by the Marton police that a hod'v was washed m> on the Turakina beach'to-day. It is that of Maxwell] Iveir Garrick, aged 18 of Auckland, who was drowned while bathing at Castlecliff (Wanganui) on Sunday. ALLEGED THEFT'. WELLINGTON, Jan. 29. Dressing gowns,’ I ’lints, ties, shirts, pyjamas, collars, underwear, gloves, rugs, cardingans raincoats and numerous other articles of apparel were exhibited in court alleged to have been stolen from the premises of C. Smith, Ltd., by Joseph,-Maurice White, 28, described as an artist, Wilfred Leonard Enmm, 28, ex-constable, and a member of the force till a few weeks | of his arrest, aiid Hugh Robertson Stvenson, 27," who till the day of his arrest was a policeman. .. They were jointly charged ninth breaking, enter-1 ing and theft ’between June and De-1 cember, of goods 'of the value of £l6O 18s Bd. There was a separate charge against White,' which included being in possession of house breaking implements, and against Stevenson of receiving.
