The Sheffield Shield match, Victoria v. New South Wales, after days of delay, commenced to-day. It started in dull weather. The wicket was like concrete, after having been covered. Ryder, Victoria’s captain, although he won the toss, sent the New South Wales team in to bat and New South Wales lost three good batsmen for 54 runs, but Bradman once again stopped the procession, while young Allsopp, with the assistance of the tail enders, brought the score to a useful level (3co) before the innings dosed.
