The Municipal employees, including the school teachers, have six weeks wages due to them. There are no funds available. Therefore, the attempts by the City to sell short-term securities, namely taxanticipation - warrants, totalling approximately eight million dollars, for immediate funds, have failed. No bank would underwrite them. The hospitals, particularly those l housing tubercular patients, and the parks and other most necessitous of public services are in danger of cessation.* For instance, there are 1,5ft0 nurses who possibly may leave shortly, unless some provision is made for their pay.
