119 YEARS OLD

IRISH WOMAN’S GREAT AGE (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright..] LONDON, Jan. 24. Mary Buckland, of Ballycommon County, Tipperary, believed to be the world’s oldest woman, celebrated her 119th. birthday today. She has vivid recollections of outstanding events in Ireland, including the great storm of 1823, and famine of 1847. She travelled by the first stage coach from Dublin to Cork. Buckland declares no young woman of to-day will live to her age. Late hours and amusements prevent this. Unlike the aged man in “Punch”' she does not attribute her longevity to the fact that she was horn in 1811, but to adherence to the old adage, “Early to bed, early to rise.”
