HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

THURSDAY, JAN. 23rd. : The Board met at 4.30 p.m.. Present: Messrs M. H. Houston (Chairman!, W.' E. Richards, E. W. Heenan, ]>. Stuart, J. J. Mclntosh and Dr. Teichelmann. . The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. ' INWARD CORRESPONDENCES From Government Statistican, acknowledging receipt of statistics 'lor October and November.—Received. From various, extending Xmas greetings.—Received. From Valuation Department, Wellington, re charge for revising roll.— Received. ' : From various, circulars.—Received. From Signalman reporting there was a straight channel, with a depth of 'lift, to 13ft; stating a portion of the north wall is gradually being carried , away.—Received. Accounts amounting to £343 12s 9d were passed for payment. Dr Teichelmann moved that the Engineer be asked to confer with the Board and advise as to remedying present , conditions.—Seconded” by>iJflrr Heenan and carried. Mr Mclntosh moved that the chairman be authorised to have broken stringers under the wharf replaced and other urgent' work on the wharf tended to.—Seconded by Mr Stuart and carried. Mr Heenan moved that the Marine Department be asked to reinstate the coastal light at Hokitiia.—Seconded by the Chairman and carried. Mr Heenan moved that the special fee paid to the signalman for each trip of the Zingara. be paid to him, for each trip of the Moa or any other vessel;—Seconded by the Chairman and carried. ' ' The Chairman said members would have been very grieved to hear that day that Mr E. A. Wells, a former member of the Board, had passed away. He moved that the Board’s sympathy with the relatives be recorded. Seconded by Dr Teichelmann and harried, members standing in* silence. The Board rose at 5.40 p.m.
