ADDINGTON STOCK SALE

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 22

The live stock sale at Addington today saw a good demand for pigs, including West Coast entries, and good prices for quality in other lines.

Beef: There were 385 fat cattle yarded. Prime sorts were firm, and .medium easier. Steers sold: Prime and heavy £l6 10s to £22, medium £l3 to £l6 ss, light £lO to £l3. Cows and heifers sold: Prime £l3 10s to £ls, medium £8 to £l2 10s, light £6 and £7 10s.

Mutton: There was a small entry of fat sheep, and it mostly was taken for export. Heavy ewes were easier. The average price for wethers was ojd to 6d pr 11)., and for ewes 4d to 4pi overall. Wethers sold: Extra to 3os -M, prime 31s to 33s 6d, medium 26s Od to 30s, light 21s 6d to 255. Ewes: sold: Prime 24s 6d to 295, medium 21s 6d to 22s 6d, light 14s Gd to IDs. Eat lambs: There we e 2,760 yarded. They were of a goad sort, and sold' well. Plain sorts uere easier. The best sold up to 3is, prune 26s to 28s, medium 22s 9d to 2~s C.'l, piain 18s lOd to 21s 6d.

Store sheep: There were 7,850 yarded. The sale was .irregular. Lambs were easier by Is 2d to 2 Gd. The best lambs sold from 19s to 2:L, medium J6s to 18s 9d, culls 9s 3d to 14s; Cd, hall'bred 2-tooili ewes to 22s lid, Romney 2-tooth ewes to 28. s 9d. 6 and 8tooth ewes to 2Ls, failing mouth ewes to 15s 9d, rape owes to 9s, wethers 8s 3d to 21s 3d.

Pigs: 4 here was a go d yarding, both of pork and bacon, including consignments from the West Coast. The competition was keen at improved rates. Choppers fetched £2 Ids to £6 13s Gd, pyrkcrs 50s to £3, heavy porkers £3 2.s 6.1 to £3 9s 6d. The average price per lb. was 9£d. Bacon - ers sold from £3 Los to £4 15s, heavy to £ ! 77s 6d, the nvora go price being 8d per lb.
