WOOL SALES. (Australian Press Association) MELBOURNE, Jan. 22. At the opening of. the wool sales yesterday, the market was from ten .[to. fifteen per cent lower. The opinion is that the lower prices will result in a bigger demand from abroad, -enabling manufacturers to compete more easily with the cheaper fibres, ..while, it is worth remembering that a still lower market will not be to buyers advantage. ALLEGED GAOL-BREAKER ' SYDNEY, Jan. 22. After living two years at Punchbowl, a suburb of Sydney, where be had conducted a successful business, Hoy Raymond Witting, aged 25 years, described as a carrier, was arrested on a Warrant from New Zealand, alleging that be bad escaped from Paparua Gaol in April, 1927,,, since when his whereabouts had been, a mystery. He was remanded till February 6tli.
