OBITUARY.

ELISHA A. WELLS. /,....y„ \ ' The community was shocked when it heard that; Mr ' Elisha A. Wells, the well known storekeeper _of ..W oodstock, had expired suddenly at his residence last night abouV'.Olo’clock. i-. The deceased of Hokitika and was 63 j&f age, 'his parents being well known residents of Kanieri train, and has been- a resident of Kanieri and Woodstock. ever since. He has always taken a prominent part in local affairs. He was a member of the Kanieri Fife Band in the earlier days, a well known took part in amateur theatricals I A Later he was elected a member off the Westland County Council, on which body; he served for many years, and he was County Chairman in 1924 and 1928. He was also a member of- the Westland Hospital Board, and has served there for several years, and also served as a member of the Hokitika' Harbour Board. A popular figure at Woodstock, Mr Wells was: .well known throughout Westland and further afield, and there will be a deep feeling of regret at his sudden demise and sincere sympathy, with the members of the family in their bereavement. Mr Wells suffered the loss of his wife in April last. He leaves a family of one daughter (Mrs Ed.. Stoop of Woodstock) and two sons (Harry and Elisha ‘‘Sonny") of Woodstock, and two sisters (Mrs James Mcßeath of HokU tika, and Airs H. Hughes of Invercargill), and three brothers (John at Woodstock, Andrew at Reefton, and Thomas of South Westland).
