The visitors commenced tlicir innings at 4 o’clock and had lost two wickets when stumps were drawn at 5.15 on account of failing light and threatening rain. A feature of the match was the sqlendid fielding of the visitors, while late in the afternoon they gave a taste of their batting qualities. Details are:

'The cricket match was 'resumed this morning in fine weather after heavy ram overnight. The wicket was in fair order. Dawson (59) and Nicholls (71) resumed for the visitors to the bowling of Glennie and Smith. The game had only been in progress a few minutes when Nichols sent a catch to Staples off Glennie. 141—3— 16. Worthington was the next man in and at noon the score was 154, Dawson (66), Worthington (4). Dawson and Worthington continued to increase the score but the former when 96 was run out 'as a result of good fielding. The scoro was then 210 for 4. Gilligan followed and he scored faster. At the luncheon adjournment the total was 256, Worthington (not out) 64, Gilligan (not out) 14.

SCARE DISCOUNTED

SYDNEY, Jan. 21
A medical scare was created about the health of Ponsford, AVoodful, Oldfield and Jackson regarding the team for England. The scare is treated seriously by the cricketers concerned. All of them have certificates in their possession from their own medical men declaring they are as fit as can be, and are able to stand the stress of an English tour.
