Two bush fires at Northnm several miles apart worked towards each other doing a large amount of damage. Three men trying to extinguish a blaming hay stack were trapped but managed to reach a stoneheap where all were overcome and one subsequenly died. .The other two were badly burned. Five hundred men are fighting flames at Yornanning and Norrogin districts where the heat is intense, being 114 in the shade.
