HALF-MILE RECORD. BY AUSTRALIAN RUNNER. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 20. The fastest time ever recorded at Christchurch for a half mile run was made to-night by J. D. Eitt, the champion middle distance professional runner ‘ from Australia. Fitt’s time was 1 min 53 2-5 secs. He won the race easily, conceding handicaps up to 60 yards. Over a mile race, Fitt was beaten by Getson by one yard in 4 mins 33 secs. In sprint matches between D. McLennan (New Zealand champion) and Lynch Cooper, McLennan was in his best form, while Cooper was palpably off. McLennan won the 75 yards in 7 4-ssecs, by two yards and the 100 yds in 10 secs, by three yards. Cooper, on medical advice, did not run the 120,vds distance, which was the third of the match series. DR PELTZER WILL RACE GOLDING. (Australian Press Association) MELBOURNE, Jan. 20. Dr Peltzer stated here tjiat he would be willing to meet Golding in Melbourne, if an international relay race could be arranged. He said be was attacked by rheumatism on Saturday morning, and his heart was troubling him after running the eight hundred and eighty yards race.
