K. H. Cave, of Wanganui, and L. T. Cobcroft, of Wellington, will umpire tlie second test next Friday at Wellington. Bowley, who has been undergoing treatment at Rotorua, since bis arrival in New Zealand, returns to Wellington on Tuesday, much improved in health. He will commence practice immediately in ilie hope of taking part in the second test.

In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, South Australia in the first innings made'36s. Hack scored 43. In the bowling Hornibrook took 3 for 79, and Oxenham 3 for 76. Queensland in tlie first innings made 171 for 7. Hubbard scored 41 and Higgins (not out) 45.

In yesterday’s grade cricket, batting for Manly against Glebe, Cummins made 109; for University against Paddington Hogg (not out) made 109; for Alarrickville against Petersham, Fairfax made 73. Bowling for Mosman against Gordon, Rae took 4 for 36: for St. George against AVestern Suburbs, Tlieak took 3 for 26.

BOWLER NO-BALLED.
SYDNEY, Jan. 18
In a match against Victoria, Halcombo, the West Australian fast bowler was. no-balled by the square-leg umpire six times for throwing, in liis opening over, which wa.s also liis last. Half-way through Die over the bowler became disgusted and threw the ball to bis captain, but lie was prevailed upon to finish the over which consisted of fourteen balls. Hal com Ik- was nominated for Mutest trial played recently, but tbe reason why be was not pla.ved was bis allegedly doubtful delivery.
