BUDAPEST, Jan. 18. At the Hungarian husband-poison-ing trial, there was a dramatic scene in tlie case of Maria S/.endi, when the judge thundered: “Stop lying! Tell the truth ! Did you know that the midwife, Susan Fazekas, was' poisoning vour son?” Maria, was terrified. She wavered. Then she confessed. She said: “We cooked a nice supper and put arsenic in. I paid Susan two pounds. My son died.” She then told how it took three doses of arsenic in his food to kill her husband. The .Judge: “What did you pay that time?” Maria-; “Nothing. I refused to pay !”
