VAST CONCOURSE.
INDIA’S GREATEST FESTIVAL. [United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ] DELHI, January 10. One million and a-half pilgrims have withered at Roubh Mela, for India’s greatest festival, which is held at Allahabad every twelve years, at a point in front of the fort where the Ganges and the Jumna Rivers meet. At the opening of the festival yesterday, ten thousand people stood waist deep in the sacred Ganges, with one hundred thousand standing on the banks to greet the dawn. A great roar, “Ram! Ram!” went up from the multitude upon their glimpsing the sun’s first beams. The [immersion continues for several days.
