HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONDAY, JANUARY 13th
The Committee met at 7 p.m. Present—Messrs A. C. Armstrong (Chairman), W, H. Shannon, It. J. Pedder, J. J. Breeze, H. It. Sweney, W. E. Richards, J. Conning, and Mrs J. H. Wilson.
The minutes were confirmed and outward 'correspondence approved. Mr Sweney referred to the recent death of Mrs Partridge and moved that the Committee place on record its deen sympathy with Mr Partridge in his bereavement. Carried in silence members standing.
INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. Prom Canterbury School Committee Association in reference to mat-
tors to he placed before the Board.— Received.
From R. J. Bradley, Humphreys School, forwarding £‘l towards cost of clinic.—Received and vote of thanks passed.
From Canterbury Board recommending Norman J. Dew for position of .assistant master. A further letter stated Mr Dew had taken another appointment and enclosing applications of T. J. Llewelyn and C. J. Wan-en.—Received; referred to Chairman and Secretary to deal with.
From Board forwarding £42 5s 9d —Received.
From Miss Maloney, dental clinic, notifying for month 202 operations and 90 attendances.—Received.
The Chairman' reported that no replies in reference to assistance for the clinic had been received from Kokatahi, Koiterangi or Woodstock. It
was resolved that in view of no replies being received from, several centres, that the dental odder lie advised of those centres subscribing and Ur make her itinerary accordingly.
Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. From I>. Yi’illiamson, resigning /position- as ’teacher. —Received. It was resolved to place on record the appreciation of tiio work of the departing teacher and regretting the loss of his services and his resignation being accepted with regret.
SCHOOL EXCURSION
It was resolved to hold the annual excursion on Wednesday, February 12th, and that Reel'ton !x> visited. The fan's to 'be 3s under 15, 4s for secondary students under 19 years, and adults ss. It was resolved that no canvass for funds he made hut that voluntary donations will be received.
It was resolved to apply to the High S: bool hoard for a grant and also to the Hokitika Savings 'Bank for a similar purpose.
Messrs Pedder and Breeze were fed visitors lor the mouth. T 1 ie Committee rose at 8 ip.m.
