LICENSES INCREASE,

HUGE RADIO AUDIENCE.

(British Official Wireless). RUGBY, January 10. During the last year there was 'an increase of over 1,000,000 in the number of wireless licenses in Great Britain, bringing the total at the end of the year to over 2,898,000. It has been estimated that each license means five or six listeners, .so that the Broadcasting Corporation has a potential audience, of 15,000,000 people. There are also 16,000 free licenses issued to the blind.

It is believed that Britain has the largest radio population in the world in proportion to the number of houses. Wireless has led to the development oi a new and considerable industry, and in addition to the home market Bri-tish-made wireless equipment exported exceeds £1,000,000 yearly.
