FAMOUS HOTEL.

BURNT AT ALGECIRAS

[United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph .—Copyright.]

, MADRID, January 13. It is understood that the Pie Reina Cristina Hotel, al Algeciras, which is known to thousands of British tourists, was destroyed! by fire as the insult of an. electrical short circuit. There were two hundred guests, mostly British, and they escaped. The flames spread rapidly, and nearly trapped several. Sir James Parr and his daughter were among the visitors who were at tea when the outbreak occurred. All rushed to retrieve their belongings, but many of them were driven back by the flames. A lack of water hindered the attempts to fight the fire. The hotel, which was built in 1899, was the scone of many historic meetings, and notably that between Marshal Petain and General De Rivera in 1926, regarding the pacification of Morocco.
