A cricket match was played at the Mental Hospital grounds yesterday between Hokitika and Rimu and resulted in a win for Rimu by an innings and 45 runs. Hokitika made 46 (eooper 11, Wilson 9) and 42 (Wilson 11, Dale 8). Griffiths took It) wickets and O’Gonyor 10 wickets, being the only bowlers used. Rimu made 143 (Griffiths 41, O’Connor 25. Growcott 22, R. Wells 17, Ogilvie 11). Williams secured 5 wickets for 22, Freitas 3 and King 2.
The last couple of days have been fine and warm, and as a result the sea beaclr has claimed many visitors, there being a lot of bathers yesterday afternoon and evening proving specially attractive. At present there is a fine beach, which runs out very flat for a considerable distance.
