FIRST RIDE IN TRAIN

SYDNEY, January 2

Youth will have its iling. At 102 years of age Mrs Elizabeth Humphries, of Robertson, New South Wales, has decided to see a hit of life. A few days age she had her first ride in a train, and was so “blicked-up’’ about the adventure, after having alighted from tiie train without assistance, that she wants another taste of this inode of transport. She has three bachelor sons, slips of youth, said to he 72, 75, and 11 years of age respectively, but she scorned their proffered assistance and walked unaided to,,the. railway station near her home. Tt is said that she has never once travelled more than a lew miles frofti her home, but now that she had Set out to see the world, and ridden in a train, there is no knowing where the spirit of wanderlust will take her. The dear old lady, whose upright figure, judging from her photograph does not suggest her age, comes of stout Irish stock. Migrating: to Australia many years ago. from the distressful land of her birth, she travelled form Sydney l>v conch to Robertson, where she has lived ever since. The old folk seem to he going gay. Not long ago a Sydney woman of more than 9!) celebrated ber birthday by going up in an aeroplane for a joy ride, and circling in the upper blue over her home on the North Shore of Sydney.
