VALEDICTORY

A very pleasing function took place last evening when the members of St. Mary’s Ladies Club and Children of Mary, assembled to bid farewell, to the Misses Kathleen, Ita and Monica Dowling, who are leaving Hokitika. Rev. Father Finerty, who presided, voiced the regret of the Societies at the loss of such valued members and asked eacli voting lady to accept a gift as a memento of her association with St. Mary’s. Miss Kathleen Dowling, on behalf of her sisters and lierself, thanked those present for their kindness and said the gifts would serve to remind them of the many happy days spent with their girl friends in Hokitika, musical were items contributed by several members. Supper was then served, apd.^,.very..pleasant evening concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Sync and. God Save the King. .
