For tlie first day of the Thames races it was finei, but overcast. There was a good attendance, and the track was in good order.
Tapu Handicap.—(ll) Vital 1, (14) Valcuir 2, (1) Tuku 3. AYon by two lengths one length. Time 1.16. Borough Highweight Handicap.— (8) Alashoor 1, (5) A\ nr Officer 2, (1) Asmodeus 3. AYon by a. neck; a iengtli. Time 1.44 1-5.
Puriri Handicap.—(l) Cmaclian 1, (10) Big Bertha 2, (4) Patero 3. AVon by two lengths; a neck. Time 1.15 1-5.
Goldfields Cup.—(2) Tancriri 1, (3) Le Clioucas 2, (1) Flying Juliet 3. Won v four lengths; two lengths. Time 2.7.
Rarawai Hack.—(l) Archieval 1, (8) Diamond 'Queen 2, (5) Grand Tea 3. Won by i...»f a lengtli; one and a half lengths. Time 1.19 1-5. Flying Handicap.— (2) Envoy 1, (1) Hakanoa 2, (5) Branson 3. Won by two lengths; one and a half lengths. Time 1.14 2-5.
AVaitakaruru Hack.—(4) Brampton 1, (2) Coll 2. (1) Tuku 3. Won by one and a half lengths; if neck. lime 1.42 3-5.
Hauraki Plains Handicap.—(3) Good Boy 1, (2) Achcen 2, (5) Tanagra 3. AYon by one length; half a length. Time 1.28. The totalisator handled £16,296, compared with £19,513 on last year’s first day, which was a Saturday.
