NEWS FROM WILKINS
PLOTTING THEIR DISCOVERIES
[United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright, j
LONDON, Jan. 8. The following has been received from Wilkins from Deception Island: “We are jjjick again and have had time to plot /approximately our discoveries. We have fixed the north coast ofrCharcotland five miles south of it's charted position. The cape where the coast turns south, beyond the most easterly point, is conspicuous enough to deserve the name, and I suggest it be called Mawson. Another cape, in longitude 76 west latitude 70 south, I should like to be known as Cape Byrd. We sighted two islands which possibly are easterly. We are uncertain of the number of islands belonging to the Finlay Group. It is unlikely we will return to New York until April. Owing to the dangerous uncertainty of flights across the pack ice we were unable to make the Ross Sea flight because of the absence of a suitable take-off. A\e are postponing our Arctic plans for a ’year.”
