EXCITING SCENES AT FIRE
IMIKTBOTTPVE Jan. 9.
There were exciting scenes at a fire at, the premises of the Boston Blacking Coy., at Richmond to-day. Two employees’ clothes were ablaze. The burning was subdued bv onlookers, and thev were taken to the hospital. There were repeated explosions several firemen and the District Fire Officer, being severely burned, and they were taken to the hospital. Altogether there are seven in the hospital.
BURNT AT FIRE
MELBOURNE, Jun. 10.
Alexander Curry, 26, died from burns sustained in yesterday’s fire. Six others are in a serious condition, Curry who was working at the basement at the time of the outbreak, .had his clothes burned from him before he reached tiie street.
SLANDER ACTION
MELBOURNE, Jan. 10.
Stanley Williams has issued a Supreme Court writ directed against Sir Wm. McPherson, a former Victorian Premier, claiming £2OOO for alleged slander.
