GOULD’S PARTY
ON THE RETURN TRAMP,
(By ltussell Owen—Copyrighted 1929 by the New York Times Company, and St. Louis Post Dispatch. All rights for publication reserved throughout the world. Wireless to New York Times.) BAY OF WHALES, Jan. 8. Gould’s geological party is returlining rapidly despite unfavourable weather. Last night they were 229 miles south of Little America. Deep .snow is making travelling hard. The weather here at the base continues poor. A blizzard lasting three days ended yesterday but the sky is still overcast. There has not been a day for months when extended flying has been possible. Despite the warm days, the thermometer is twenty to thir*->- and ice still clings to the Bay. If it does not go out before the ships arrive the loading of them will be a difficult problem.
