THE HAGUE, Jan. 9

■The A, mbßt important event of the day at the Reparations Conference'was a meeting of the French delegation at which a provisional Clause was drafted dealing with the Sanctions in the event of Germany’s default under the Young Plan.

This clause was approved of by the British, and the Italian delegations. It J w'as then sent to the Germans.

The clause, provides for a judicial definition of default, after which The Hague Court will determine if the default is wilful. It is understood,' furthermore, that should Germany not respect the decision of The Hague Court, the Treaty of "Versailles will again become operative, thus implying the re-occupation of German territory.

'The Franco-German incident has *wled, following on the issue of a French communique at the instance of the Germans, stating that yesterday’s .discussions WCre without incident, and \were most cordial throughout, adding M. Tardieu, French Premier pointed out to ’ the Germans that an over-meticulous examination of the details might disturb the atmosphere that was necessary for success. Tt also •emphasises that the German delegates 'bad ft difficult task. The Germans, although maintaining lUeir standpoint as to various aspects of the discussion, did not protest against M. Tardieu’s remarks.
