PRESIDENTS ADDRESS. v United Press Association—By Electric/' Telegraph—Copyright), \ LONDON* January 8. George Whittaker addressing the British Wool Federation upon his reelection to the presidency, replying to a suggestion of the, Australian Press Association that the decline in wool va 1 ties was dlie to a bearing movement at Bradford, said this was erroneous. The fact was that the past twp seasons aiid the last one particularly,.had resulted in severe losses to all holders of stocks of wool tops. It was therefore natural that when the .new: clip reached the market everyone operated with increased caution. Some had lost so much that they could not send buyers to Australia. He adhered to the advice given . New Zealand, that an alteration in the sales quota was not likely to reduce, but increase , prices. He recognised the growers .were, adverse to sending wool to London in bulk, but it they sent more fa thei. July and September sales , in London ifiwould probably, be more profitably than selling against everything in tho Dominions.
