AN INQUEST
OEO FARM TRAGEDY. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) HAWERA, Jan. 7. At an inquest held at Manaia yesterday concerning Theresa Zimmerman aged 40, and two infant boys aged six months and three years, the Coroner, R. S. /Sage, returned a verdict that while in a depressed state of mind Mrs Zimmerman drowned her two children and then committed suicide. The tragedy occurred last. Friday on Oeo farm, where deceased lived wjth her husband, David Zimmerman. The latter was engaged as a share-milker and was absent from the house between 10 a.m. and 4 o’clock on Friday. Returning with his brother he found the children’s bodies floating in a shallow stream 50 yards from the homestead, and the mother’s body in a six-foot dam 460 yards away. The evidence showed that Mrs Zimmerman recently came to New Zealand from Switzerland to marry. She did not speak English and lacked feminine companionship and was frequently depressed being troubled with insomnia.
