The weather bureau reports the cyclone is declining in intensity hut serious flooding is threatened in Herbert Valley and Johnston Rivers, following torrential rain. In many places it was recorded over ten inches for fortyeight hours, Mossman registering twelve and a half inches.
Buffetted for tweny-four hours by the cyclone, the steamer Morinda reached Cairns nine hours late. The wind reached a volocity 6f 85 miles hourly. The cabins and saloons were flooded. Fears arc entertained for the safety of a fishing party aboard a launch which left Cairns on Friday for Moore Reef, where a lugger was wrecked on Saturday morning. Ail the low lying places north of Cairns are flooded. The mail train reached Townsville through water which was a foot over the rails in many places.
