WELL KNOWN CRICKETER DEAD. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 6. Obituary.—William Alfred Richardson, a member of the well-known cricketing family. He captained the State team and played against the Englishmen in the ’nineties. His brother, Charles, is now in New Zealand.
LEVEL CROSSING SMASH. SYDNEY, Jan. 6. Two women were killed and three others injured, one critically, when a ear was struck by a train at a level crossing near Newport, Victoria. WEEK-END FATALITIES. (Received this dav at 10 a.m.* SYDNEY, Jan. 6. Six deaths from ear smashes in different States and drowning complete the week-end toll. TRAM COLLISION. EIGHT INJURED. SYDNEY, Jan. 6. Eight people were injured when a double tram crashed into a stationary tram at Balmain. Many others suffered shock and many women fainted. Both trams were damaged.
