BIG LA SUITS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). 'Received this day at 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 4. One of the results of the Curtis Award, cabled on Jan. Ist. has been the filing of a suit by Handley-Page Coy. charging an infringement of the slotted wings patents by Curtis Coy., and asking three hundred thousand dollars damages; and a counter suit by Curtis to-day for one hundred thousand, in the effort to “conserve its rights.” It is moreover rumoured that Handley Page may attempt to secure an injunction against the granting of the safety device.
COASTGUARDSMEN CHARGED. NEW YORK, Jan. 4. New London (Connecticut) messages state that 24 coastguardsmen were courtmartialled and charged with intoxication and theft of liquors from the Flordelmar, after the rum-runner was captured.
