NEW REPAIR SHIP
[United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] LONDON, January 4. The Navy’s most wonderful ship, of 13,,'500 tons, named the “Itesource” is the Mediterranean Fleet’s new repair ship. Site is equipped with twenty different workshops each fitted with the latest plant, and also a foundry and a smithy. Her principal duty will be to keep the Mediterranean warships in condition, blit she will also be able to supply them with water and oil. The Resource has double bottoms. She is constructed so, as to enable her to carry in them two hundred tons of distilled water, two hundred tons of boiler water, one hundred tons of lubricating oil, and four hundred tons of oil fuel. The vessel also carries powerful wireless and searchlight plants. The latter is for illuminating any ship on which night work may be necessary. Her only armament consists of two four-inch guns on high angle mountings, enabling them to be used against aircraft.
SINGAPORE BASE. LONDON, January 4. - The Navy League has handed Air Ramsay MacDonald and Air Alexander the New Zealand Branch’s cabled protest against any? delay over the Singapore Base.
