BURIAL OF GIRL
IN HYPNOTIC STATE. (United Press Association.—By Electr'n Telegraph.—Copyright. 1 • LONDON, Jan. 3. There were astonishing scenes outside a Staffordshire theatre, where a touring hypnotist came out with £2OO as a challnge he was prepared to bury a hypnotised girl eight feet deep and allow her to remain half an hour. Over two thousand people surged around to witness the spectacle. A steel coffin containing the girl was about to be lowered when a large body of police intervened, and prevented the incident. The crowd then howled defiance at the police when they saw there was the likelihood of their losing a. free show, but order was eventually restored . , The hypnotist agreed to desist. He said : “If I am arrested, I will prove that the girl was nowise in danger. That would take a lot of doing.” The girl, who was annoyed said that she did not mind being buried for two hours.
