VANDYOK MASTED PIECE STOLEN

REMOVED FROM ITS FRAME.

A Vandyclc masterpiece, “Concert Des Anges,” valued at £20,000, was dispatched a few days ago from Brussels to London and addressed to Godfrey Phillips, art dealer, i's missing. When the packing case was opened, it was disclosed that the picture bad been completely cut out of the frame. Hie lowtner, Monsieur Bejchbache, says that the picture was only insured for a quarter of its value. This recalls the former theft of another famous-Vandvek at Courtrai in "December, 1927, which was similarly cut from its frame. Later it was sold to a Bruges hawker for four shillings. The thief was eventually sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.
