BOY SCOUTS.
Taking advantage of the Christmas holiday season the local Boy Scouts have been in camp for a week past at Mikonui. This period under canvas has been looked forward to for some time as a"' l party of Christchurch Scouts from the Linwood Troop, also a party of the Greymouth Troop had arranged to join up so that quite a large >camp va» antiicifintecj. ft is reported that despite the weather conditions and the excitement and perhaps temporary discomfort of tents being blown down and gear getting wet a merry and useful time has been spout. The party break camp and return to-day. To-night will be spent in Hokitika and the visitors go on to their ..resnective homes bv train to-morrow. Advantage will be taken of the special gathering this evening to formally open the new Scout Room of the local Troops. Barents and all friends of the hoys will be cordially welcomed at the Scout Room at eight o’clock to-night, when no doubt some details, of camp experiences will be retailed. Those kindly disposed towards the success of the evening are asked to bring along a plate.
