PRIME MINISTER’S STATEMENT. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Jan 2. The Prime Minister announced today that reports from the Administrator of Western Samoa indicated that the natives whom the polico' were endeavouring to arrest when the attack occurred last Saturday, v.ere wanted on warrant for assaulting the police, and that T.anmsose, the leadoi of the Mm who died from wounds received during the affray was among the rioters. At least one automatic pistol was used by Man. The territory is reported by the Administrator to be quiet. The Man are dispersing and the Administrator lms received a large number of offers of help if necessary from loyal natives.
