THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT. It is nevertheless true that the success of a holiday depends partly on the temperament of the holiday-mak-er. Dr. Johnson once declared that an observant traveller could learn more on the Hampstead stage coach than others in a tour of Europe. Similarly some people can derive more good from the simplest holiday than others from a more’ lengthy and expensive journey. In the last analysis, a well spent holiday means recreation; it should enable one to face again life’s tasks with body refreshed, brain clearer and spirit more cheerful and hopeful.
