WESTLAND RACING CLUB

-MONDAY, DEC. 30th. 'I he Committee met at the Club Rooms at B.Jo o’clock. The official,* picscnt included the following: W. E. Williams (I‘resilient; in the chair, lion. H L. iMicliel (Patron.;. .Messrs Neville, Wltilev, Mclntosh, SelIci's, Yai rail, McGregor, Adaimson, Builand, Evans, Peake, H. Newman, J. Breeze and H. Jones. In respect to the late meeting the Racecourse Inspector reported that om person who had no fixed' address' had been warned off the course. The Stipendiary Steward forwarded a copy of his report to the Racing Conference, stating the meeting wa; very successful in every way. The raring was clean and well contested. Th< track was in good racing order, though soft. All the officials were very attentive to their duties. All the appointments were in good order, rooms and stand were in first-clas order and clean. TREASURER'S REPORr. The Treasurer submitted a statemeni of receipts £2120 16s 3d and of expenses £2039 Is 3d. The credit- muance shown was ’£3Bl ].ss 3d. whi was expected to reach £4OO when all accounts were finalised. It' was" proposed to'nay £350 off ‘the debenture account and £6O off accounts outstanding. Tlie : members’ .subscriptions wei\ now very helpful. Some 82 membei> h.ad'paid to ilate', and had enabled most of the current accounts to be discharg-' ed as. they accrued. The Chairman "moved the adoption of the report, and expressed sntisfac tion at tlie very favorable result o' the meeting. The Club had recove rot a good deal of lost ground, and it wasatisfactory to have the hacking of tlpublic. The late . improvements we., fully justified and greatly appreciated. He specially tributed the good wovl of all the officials at the ~-ceting whim had passed off so smoothily and pleasantly. Hon Michel seconded the motion am t nought- the community was indebted to the splendid work of the Chairmar. and Secretary, and other officials. It seemed that the Club had turned the eoruer, viiil with a favourable run at Easter a very good year would be re corded. The motion was carried. The state of the course was referred to, and the work of the Caretaker specially praised. On the motion o' Mr Sellers, seconded by Mr Rutland, a bonus of £lO 10s was voted to tl caretaker (Mr 0. Fowler).Messrs W. J. Radford, G. Heinz, G. Adamson .and J wye elected; members of the Club. EASTER PROGRAMME. .

The draft programme for tbe tw< days’ racing at Easter (April 23rd. ant 24tU.) was adopted as follows: First Day : Maiden Race/ 5) furlongs, £7O; Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs £7O; Autumn Handicap, 1 mile, £l2O Express Trot Handicap, 1 mile, £7O President’s Handicap, o\. furlongs. £7O Dominion Handicap Trot, l.j- miles, £75; Railway Handicap, 6 furlongs. Lot).

Second Day:—Maiden Race, 51 fur longs, £7O; Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs £7O; Hokitika Handicap, l-( miles £l3-0; Boromth Trot Handicap, £7O Shorts Handicap, oj furlongs, £7O; High Weight Handicap, 6 furlongs £7O; County Trot Handicap, 1* miles £75; Farewell Handicap, 7 furlongs £BO. The total of the stakes is £1,260. P is proposed to make the nomination* £1 for each event, and the acceptance fee £1 for each event. *

At the close of the meeting the Hon Michel proposed the health of the President and Secretary of the Club, wh replied; and Mr Williams proposed the healths of'Messrs Michel, Jones and Adamson, who also acknowledged the good wishes extended.
