SWIMMING SPORTS
VISIT OF AUSTRALIAN SWIMMERS The Municipal Baths held a large crowd last evening when the Hokitika Swimming Club held a carnival gathering, when the visiting Australian swimmers O. E. Griffiths and N. Ryan, took part. The exhibition of swimming by Mr Griffiths was one of the features of the evening and was greatly appreciated. The results were as follows : Boys race—A. Adamson scr. 1; J. French scr. 2. Time 16secs. ; Ladies race.—H. Ridland 4secs 1; L. Stafhes lsec. 2. Time 173-ssecs. 25 Yards Men.—lst heat; McLymont 1; A. Adamson2. Time 12sec. 2nd heat.—French 1; Davidson 2. Time 15 l-ssec. Final.—French 1; McLymont 2. Time 15 l-ssees. Ladies Diving.—H. Ridlands 1; J. Bptland 2; L. Staines 3. Boys Diving.—O. Saunders 1; R. Saunders 2. Ladies 50Yards.—P. Gillooly Ssecs 1 ; L. Staines scr 2; H. Ridland lsec 3. Time 42 3-ssec. Mens 100 Yards.— E Cunningham 7secs 1; M. Davidson ISsecs 2; 0. E. Griffiths scr. 3. Time 67 2-s.sec Candle race.—N. Ryan 1. A novelty item that caused mucli amusement. Exhibition swim 220yrds, by N Ryan paced by local swimmers,the time being 2. 31 2-5.
