Very favourable weather favoured those interested in Outboard "Racing on Christmas Day when a very successful regatta was held at Lake Kanieri by the Lake Kanieri Boat Club. All the boats competing were owned by local owners and several new boats which had not hitherto raced in the Club’s regattas competed for the first time.

During the final lap, however, . “Silver Streak” was overtaken by “ ! So Long” which finished second. These two boats seemed very well matched and a very keen contest took place between them throughout the race.
