SWIMMING
VISITING SWIMMERS WIN WELL AT CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 23. Ryan and Griffiths, the Australian swimmers, appeared at a Carnival at the Tepid Baths to-night. They won all their races, with apparent ease. Griffiths swam an exhibition race over 220 yards, paced by relays of local swimmers. He covered the distance in A 7 1-5 .secs, cutting 1 4-5 secs of D. P. Lindsay’s record. The results were:440yds. Invitation Handicap:—Noel Ryan (Bsec.) 1, A. T. Stokes (Bsecs) 2. Won by 20 yards. Time 5.25. 220vds Invitation Handicap: Griffiths (scr) 1, A T. F. Stokes (scr) .j Won by five yards. Time 2.30.
