£270 ROBBERY

PAY ENVELOPES taken. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 20. A daring well-planned robbery took place at lunch hour to-day in the office of Hathcrby Bros., who control one ol the biggest plastering businesses in Christchurch. The firm lost £270 in cash, most of the money having been made into pay envelopes for the employees. It appears that the person responsible was well acquainted with the layout of the building and the business of the office. Ine thief entered by breaking a window, and opening a latch. Inside the office he found the key of the roll top desk, and abstracted the pay envelopes, which bad been left there at noon by the clerk who made them up.
