To-day the West Coast boys cricket teams continued their series;., of matches against the Canterbury Boys’ Cricket Association, and, in these, although the home teams were successful, in both cases, the A game proved a very close contest, and but for a couple of run-outs , at a critical period in the play, might very easily have resulted in a win for the West Coast.

In the A game, Canterbury batted first and scored 265 for eight wickets, when a declaration was made. I. Stapleton (three for 36) and M- Collett (two for 22) were the most successful ioowlers for the Coast, whilst T, Shaw (1 for 43), S'. McLeon (one for 30), and L. Wilson (one for 24) also took wickets. J. Williams (none for 18), N. Adams (none for 8), and R. Kiely (none for 49) bowled without success.

Tlie Coast also batted well, scoring 258. T. Shaw showed very pleasing form in notching 79, whilst F. Stapleton (41), L. Wilson (31), T. Duffy (31), S. McLeon 28), and J. Williams <23) also made useful additions to the total.

In the B game, the West Coast were outclassed. Canterbury batted first and declared when ten wickets had fallen for 473, each side batting 12 men. Two boys secured centuries. B. McDiarmid (three for 97), L. Hedwig (four for 75), W. Ashby (one for 67), J. Guy (one for 81), M. Morgan (one for 31) took the wickets. The Coast replied with 37, J. Guy being the top scorer.

Following on, the visitors did somewhat better, notching 97, to which total W. Ashby and B. McDiarmid were the chief contributors with 21 and 20 runs respectively, whilst L. Hedwig scored Tl. , All the West Coast boys are well, and will be returning to their homes by to-morrow’s (Friday’s) express.
