GOVERNOR OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND. ‘.By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. On bis first visit to New Zealand, Brigadier-General Sir Alexander llorcRutliven, V.C., D. 5.0., Governor of South Australia, arrived by the Niagara to-day. Ho is accompanied by Lady Hore-Ruthven, his son, Air P. Hore-Ruthven, and Captain R. B. Brassev and Airs Brassey. The party will leave Auckland to-morrow morning for Rotorua, and Sir Alexander will later go to Taupo for ten days’ trout fishing, while Lady Hore-Ruthven will visit some of the scenic resorts of the South Island. The party will leave New Zealand on January 14th. “I'Have always wanted to visit New Zealand,” Sir Alexander said. “Reports of your famous trout fishing have reached me for years, and naturally I welcome the opportunity of gaining some first-hand experience. I anticipate a delightful holiday.”
Sir Alexander was met on arrival by Lieut-Colonel J.. E. Duigan, Chief Staff Officer of the Northern Command, whom he has known for some years.
